Hong Leong Bank’s Good Things Begin in Spring CNY campaign to spur Malaysians into taking the first step in seeding a strong financial foundation for their future with exciting engagements and promotions

 

Kuala Lumpur, 29 January 2019: While it’s common to start the Lunar New Year with buying or obtaining new things to signify a new beginning, andspending money on auspicious celebrations and festivities to usher in prosperity, starting the year with savings is also a well-practiced tradition.With that in mind, Hong Leong Bank Berhad (‘HLB’ or ‘the Bank’) has launched its Chinese New Year campaign Good Things Begin in Spring with over RM18 million worth of giveaways to reward consumers who take the first steps towards building a stronger financial foundation today so that they can achieve their dreams tomorrow.

 

Domenic Fuda, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HLB said that the campaign is not only in tune with the Chinese belief that the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival is a time to start early planning for a great year ahead, but also in line with the Bank’s long-term campaign, ‘Seeding Dreams’ which promotes the cultivation of a savings habit and early planning for a stronger financial foundation for the future especially amongst the younger generations.

 

“Chinese New Year is more than just a celebration of a new lunar calendar; it is an auspicious period for people to start seeding their dreams for the future, especially when it comes to ensuring a solid financial foundation for themselves and their loved ones. To bring the campaign message to life, HLB has also introduced its heart-warming Chinese New Year brand film, entitled ‘Pay Back Time’, showcasing a mother who expects her daughter to start contributing back to the household once she starts working. Unbeknownst to the daughter, her monthly cash contribution was her mother’s way to apportion some savings to help her build a stronger financial foundation for the future.

 

HLB hopes to promote the cultivation of healthy financial habits especially amongst the younger generations in seeding their dreams as early as possible. “There is an old Chinese saying that goes, “A year’s plan starts with spring; a day’s plan starts with early morning “.
